Hello! Thank you for dropping by. My name is Meenakshi and I am the founder of Rustic Origin. As you might have already read about us, I will not dwell much on that matter. This
wanted to share some thoughts on what my future blogs will deal with. As you read this, I
hope my ideas interest or resonate with you and maybe, you too can provide me with ideas and suggestions on what issues I should write about.
I am neither a trained designer nor interior decorator but what I do and share is based on my interests and experiences in trying to keep a smart home and run the family. I am a mother of two daughters and a native of Gurgaon, Haryana. After my marriage (my husband is from the Ao Naga tribe of Mokokchung, Nagaland), we based ourselves in Guwahati city, the gateway to northeast India. In spite of being based in Guwahati, we have had the fortune to travel across the different states of the region and interact with communities in rural areas.
Such exposures really opened my eyes (and heart) to the diversity and richness of traditional weaves, knowledge systems and abilities of the communities. What especially amazed me was the skills and knowledge of the women folk when it came to farming, weaving or dyeing. All done in natural and organic processes not just in practice but also in belief. I could not believe it, I was sitting in a treasure trove of creativity, originality and a rainbow of colors and designs.
Everything, however, isn't a bed of roses. The talent, skills, artistry and knowledge all exist but the challenges (both internal and external) were/are larger and that is what motivated me to slowly but surely get into this 'business'. My blogs will therefore be about not just my experiences or interpretations of the situation as it exists, or the opportunities that seem so close yet so far; but also about interior styling options, everyday Q&As related to how's and why's of styling (nothing theoretical here :) and of course to talk about Rustic Origin and our products.
I hope we can keep it engaging and interesting... do come by again.
